thebeautymascot/DIY Aromatherapy body wash

My life has been so chaotic lately, I was not feeling well, both mentally and physically. I am a Gemini, I think a lot! So by just trying not to think, which obviously is difficult for me, I have managed to stay positive and happy. Which means I am back on track. But my body still needs some extra something. And if I tell you about today, you probably don’t want me to explain everything so basically, I was feeling so tired. So before I unwind this da, I thought maybe I should get a great relaxing bath. It always helps!

But when I went through the ingredient list of my favourite Aromatherapy body wash….Oh Gosh! The list of chemicals used is even longer than the other good ingredients. Today I wasn’t ready for some extra sh*t hence I ditched it, for the time being, of course. I cannot fully do it, I am an addict you know 😛 but at least once in a while, I like to go all natural, and give my skin and body something like a detox and today I decided to make a DIY aromatherapy body wash with all great ingredients minus the chemicals. And I am really happy with the end product.

And this one costs far less than any body washes you get in the market and it is really easy to make. So easy! You just need to have some few things.

If you are interested then please continue reading.

  • 2  tbsp almond oil (Get it here )

This is how you make the Aromatherapy DIY body wash

  • In a stainless steel saucepan, take distilled water and bring it to a low boil.
  • Next, grate the castile soap and stir in the grated soap into the boiling water. Over low flame, stir until the soap is melted.
  • After removing from heat add glycerine, almond oil, jojoba oil and other essential oils and finally aloe vera gel. You can either add vegetable glycerin or aloe vera gel. You can also skip both if you don’t have it at home. The two ingredients are added to make our body wash thick.
  • Let the mixture sit undisturbed until is cooled.
  • And that’s how you make your very own Aromatherapy DIY body wash! Use it as you would normally use any body washes/shower gels. Just remember to shake well before using.

Few things to remember

  • You can use liquid castile soap instead of the castile soap bar. It is even easier when you use liquid castile soap. Just add all the other ingredients except distilled water and shake well.I didn’t have liquid castile soap today, I had the soap bar. Moreover, castile soap bars are cheaper than liquid ones.
  • If you don’t have all the essential oils, you can customise and add the ones you have.
  • You can check out the recipe for a very basic DIY body wash recipe here. This recipe needs only a very few ingredients.
  • I normally stock up my essential oils. I buy when I spot them in some stores or get it online. To make things easier for you, I have added links to make it easier for you guys. Hence this post contains affiliate links which means, if you make a purchase by clicking on the links, I get a very small referral fee at no cost to you.
  • Make sure the water you use is distilled as normal tap water will contain bacteria which will reduce the shelf life of the DIY body wash.
  • This body wash has a shelf life up to one year.
  • But the ingredients might separate so make sure you shake well before each use.

Hiya gorgeous people! How are you all doing?

If you love powder foundations, then behold, because I am going to talk about one of the best powder foundations I have tried so far. You have dry skin? No issues, this might be just what you need (when it comes to powder foundations) Introducing a powder foundation that actually gives a somewhat luminous effect at the same time gives a very natural looking finish. No! I am not trying to sell this product then let me tell you I am in no way compensated to write this post but I am actually trying to tell you how amazing this is. If you wish to find out more about the Clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation then please keep reading.

My review of Clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation

thebeautymascot/clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation

Let’s start with the packaging. The transparent cube packaging made of glass with gold lids looks absolutely luxurious as well as classy. Absolutely love how it looks. The lid has a small brush attached to it which clicks in and out of the lid. A brush with this is so thoughtful but to be honest, I am not a fan of this brush. The brush is too firm than what I would normally use. I agree, the brush is of good quality, but the firmness…just not my thing. But if you like using firm brushes, then it works great. That’s not it,I have more problems with the packaging. The screw cap, the attached brush which comes out as soon as you open the lid, altogether causes messiness and product wastage, at least for me.  Each time I use the powder, some amount of powder is definitely wasted.

But hey I told you I love it….Here comes the good things.

Talking about the texture, it has a really soft texture. The powder is very very finely milled that you hardly feel its powder. When you touch the foundation you know how soft it feels. The foundation has a floral fragrance, but does not irritate my slightly sensitive skin.

The foundation has light to medium coverage which is definitely buildable. The foundation lets you feel matte but there is a very very small sheen to it. This makes my skin glow and I absolutely love it. But I am not sure if due to this reason it will be a good fit for oily skin as it might make extreme oily skin look greasy. But if it does, it will be for extremely (in brackets) oily skin. For my combination skin which is inclined more to the oilier side has no issues at all. I love how smooth and polished my skin looks after applying this powder. The foundation contains pink opal powder which illuminates the skin and gives a natural, radiant glow.

For dry skin, there is not a single concern. This foundation does not accentuate any dry patches. It hasn’t made my pores look so obvious nor has it settled into any fine lines. It does not dry out your skin at all. This foundation does not look cakey nor does it feel heavy.

The Clarins skin illusion powder foundation stays for a long time, 8 hours without any touch-ups.

Now this is a powder foundation obviously you use it on top of a hydrating moisturiser, but you can use it as a setting powder on top of a bb cream or a liquid foundation, if you like using pigmented powders. I have used this powder foundation on top of my D&G perfect luminous foundation which I have reviewed a few days back and my skin looked flawless.

Final Verdict

In love with:

  • Soft texture.
  • Skin looks airbrushed and flawless.
  • Lasts long.
  • Gives a very natural look.
  • Light to medium coverage which can be buildable.
  • Blends well.
  • Does not magnify pores.

Not in love with

  • Packaging is beautiful but impractical. The brush attached is very firm.

Overall I really love the Clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation and give it a score of 4.8/5. Highly recommend!

Have you used the Clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation? Which is your favourite foundation at the moment?

Hello girls and guys,

How are you all doing? My life has been a little bit crazy for a few days and now everything is back to normal. A few weeks back I went to Paris gallery to get a full coverage foundation. Full coverage foundations are not really my thing. Though my skin is not that perfect, I still love medium or light coverage foundations. But I should own a full coverage foundation, right? I actually went to get the Estee lauder double wear foundation, but the salesgirl claimed the Dolce & Gabbana to be better for my skin type, which by the way is combination. So I thought of trying it out. After using the foundation for a few times now, this is my review of the Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Luminous liquid foundation.

My experience with the Dolce & Gabbana perfect luminous liquid foundation

thebeautymascot/dolce and gabbana perfect luminous liquid foundation

The Dolce & Gabbana foundation comes is a transparent glass bottle with a gold top and the name and other things written in gold. The pump dispenser is our favourite right, this one scores a point here. Only the right amount of foundation comes out with a single pump, that’s a relief. I don’t want too much foundation to come out as the price is quite high.

thebeautymascot/dolce & gabbana perfect luminous foundation

I already told you I bought this foundation because I was told this was a full coverage foundation. Well, that’s not true. The foundation gives light to medium coverage, it also claims the same. Being said that, you can definitely build it up without looking like a ghost. The foundation has absolutely no fragrance, which I love. The formula of this foundation is my favourite part which contains some beneficial ingredients for the skin. The D&G foundation is not so thick, you hardly know you have it on! And my friends it blends seamlessly into your skin. It gives kind of a dewy finish but looks so natural. It’s like your skin is glowing naturally! So beautiful finish.

thebeautymascot/dolce & gabbana perfect luminous liquid foundation

Another great thing about the D&G perfect luminous liquid foundation is that it is suitable for breakout-prone skin. The foundation stayed on my skin for 9 hours with primer and without any touchups, Yay! After 9 hours I had removed it. But if I don’t use a primer underneath the foundation, then my skin turns into an oily mess just after 4-5 hours. Which means a primer is necessary and I also think this foundation would not be a great choice for oily skinned beauties, even though it claims to be for all skin types. It does not look cakey and does not accentuate any dry patches on the skin. And for Instagram-worthy pictures, this one photographs really well.

I also love how the foundation hydrates my skin. So for dry skin, this foundation will be a boon. This foundation is available in 15 shades, from the palest to the darkest, every complexion has a shade!

BUT….if you thought the Dolce & Gabbana perfect luminous liquid foundation to be perfect by all means, I have a problem. For the first few uses, the foundation came out too runny. I have shaken the bottle well, but still, this happened. From the second use onwards I have shaken the hell out, but the problem still existed. This problem was solved only after a few uses. This might be due to the oil separation.

My final verdict

In love:

  • Pump dispenser.
  • Skin looks natural yet polished.
  • Fragrance-free.
  • Subtly luminous finish for a youthful glow.
  • Long wearing.
  • Hydrates skin.
  • 15 shades available, so you get the perfect shade.

Not in love:

  • For the first few pumps the foundation comes out as a runny liquid, even after shaking.
  • Price.

Overall I really love this foundation. The price is a bit high but I am totally a fan of the dewy finish it gives to my skin. And I also love how natural it looks. I am giving the Dolce & Gabbana perfect luminous liquid foundation a 4.7/5 and I highly recommend it!
