I have a love for natural face masks. If you are not new to my blog, you probably know that! I have already written posts about a few of my favorite face masks which I make from natural and easily available ingredients. But it is not always possible to make my face masks because I have a 15 month old who is so hyperactive that sometimes I just wish she had been lazy! In that case when my skin is dull and needs some life, I opt for ready made face masks. What makes Lush standout of the other such skincare brands is definitely that they are made from the freshest and most natural ingredients. Yes, you can enjoy and benefit from the Lush face masks without being guilty of slathering on a bunch of chemicals. Today I am going to review one among a few of Lush’s face masks- Love Lettuce face mask!
Lush says about Love Lettuce
“Love Lettuce is our exfoliating ground almond mask that scoops up dirt, oil and debris and washes it all away. Exfoliation is an important part of good skincare, as it removes the buildup of dead skin that can clog your pores and cause impurities. Love Lettuce is a great example of how just a few ingredients can make a fresh, effective product for the skin. We blend calming French lavender oil with seaweed and honey to nourish and soften skin, and to balance oily T-zones.”

What I think of the lush love lettuce face mask
The love lettuce comes in a black tub or pot, as any other face masks and almost all other products from Lush. Did you know you get a free face mask for every five clean black pots you return? Which also means the pots are recycled and reused.
Love lettuce is a green colored face mask (there is something about green masks which makes you feel fresh as soon as you see it), with a very mild smell. I can’t really make out what it smells like, but it is a fresh scent which reminds me of fresh and green vegetables. I am not saying I like the smell but I don’t hate it too. There is a very very mild smell of the soothing lavender oil which I feel amps up the effect of the face mask. Coming to the texture,it has a fairly grainy texture. The consistency is not so thick and not so thin something like a cream which can be spread out evenly. It is very easy to use on face and no dripping at all. The mask should be kept on face and neck for ten minutes after which I slightly wet my face using warm water and remove the mask by exfoliating gently using circular motions. Now the almond particles gives a very good exfoliation but remember to be gentle as the particles are not so coarse . If you have sensitive skin, there is no harm in using Love lettuce but make sure you are scrubbing as gently as possible. The love lettuce is suitable for all skin types. After keeping the mask on your face for ten minutes, it does not become tight and does not dry up completely, which is good since there is no painful tightening. I have tried keeping the mask for twenty minutes and it still does not dry out completely.
After I have rinsed off the mask the first thing I noticed was that it gave a radiant glow to my skin. The skin definitely felt softer and smoother and it also brightened my complexion slightly. I loved how fresh my skin felt, my pores appeared smaller and my skin felt tight. The love lettuce face mask did not dry out my combination skin at all, instead my skin felt moisturized. All these results from the very first use. I used the mask for about five times and each time I was happy especially because my skin felt like porcelain, so much glow. When I say glow and oils you might be tempted to think that the mask makes your skin oily, but let me tell you, the mask absorbs oil instead.
The love lettuce face mask should be stored in the fridge since its made up of natural ingredients. I love the cold sensation when applying the mask right after removing from the fridge. The love lettuce has an expiry of 3 weeks so you have to use up the mask before that. I would advice to purchase this mask only when you are sure you have enough time to use it and you know you can use it up before the date expires. Lets sum up everything now!
Availability and Price
The love lettuce mask is available in Lush stores where they store it in a mini fridge and sell only small batches as the face masks are freshly made. The price of 75gm face mask is AED 65.
The Love lettuce face mask is definitely a treat for your skin with some amazing natural ingredients like Fullers earth which absorbs excess oil and dirt and thoroughly cleanse the skin, Kaolin which again cleanses and exfoliates dead skin cells and debris from the surface, agar agar gel which helps to soften and moisturize the skin and Almond oil which has healing and protecting properties and is also soothe the skin while also hydrating it. The Almond particles in the mask gives the right amount of scrubbing. The lavender oil used in the love lettuce mask is 100 percent French lavender oil which helps balance the skin’s natural sebum production.
Now lets get into the negative points. The main drawback is that the love lettuce mask expires really fast but that is because of the natural and fresh ingredients used in the mask. Also you have to use up the mask really fast. Some might not like the smell of the love lettuce mask. Also you must use a light hand while scrubbing off the mask especially the beauties who have sensitive skin as the particles are a bit rough and can aggravate sensitive skin. But if you scrub gently, this is not a concern at all.
I give a rating of 4.8/5 for the Love lettuce face mask from Lush cosmetics. This is a very good mask and is highly recommended!
